This is where you can find some of the stories written by friends of Rapp at Home’s “Life Stories Group”. The group, which was started shortly after Rapp at Home was formed, is led by Emery Lazar and now has eighteen “Lifers.” Group members share stories which they may have written decades ago or just hours before the twice-a-month meetings. The group includes three published authors, Joyce Abel, Sue Gabbay and Peter Hornbostel, as well as some who deserve to be. Stories are as varied as the members’ experiences. They are poignant, laugh-out-loud funny, exciting, sad, evocative, thought provoking – and always interesting. The members read their stories to each other and then wait for their audience’s reactions. Often a story triggers similar experiences among the group.
Prior the Covid 19 pandemic, members met at the Rapp at Home office around an oval table. Now they meet via Zoom.
Some of the stories below have typos and imperfect formatting, which, we feel, add to their authenticity and charm!
